Narrative

A PREFLT INSPECTION WAS PERFORMED, NO ABNORMALITIES WERE DETECTED. ATIS WX INFO WAS OBTAINED FROM NORTH PERRY TWR. RUN-UP AND TKOF ON 9L WERE ALL NORMAL, DEPARTING THE TFC PATTERN TO THE W FOR A LCL FLT. A FEW MINS INTO THE FLT, I DECIDED TO DO SOME TOUCH AND GOES AT OPA-LOCKA WEST ARPT. ENTERING THE PATTERN FOR A LNDG ON RWY 9 AT OPA-LOCKA WEST ON APCH THE LNDG GEAR WAS EXTENDED MAKING A LOUD NOISE WITH A CLUNK SHAKING THE ACFT. CHKING THE GEAR POS LIGHTS, THEY SHOWED THAT THE NOSE AND THE LEFT MAIN WERE DOWN AND LOCKED. THE RIGHT MAIN WAS NOT. AT THIS TIME THE LNDG ATTEMPT WAS ABORTED. I THEN MOVED THE ACFT APPROX 1 MI N OF OPA-LOCKA WEST TO EVALUATE THE SITUATION. STARTING THE GEAR BACK TO THE UP POS, THERE WERE NOISES HEARD NOT FAMILIAR TO NORMAL OPERATION. I THEN RETURNED THE GEAR TO THE DOWN POS. ONCE AGAIN THE GEAR POS LIGHTS SHOWED THE NOSE AND LEFT MAIN WERE DOWN AND LOCKED. THE RIGHT MAIN WAS NOT. I THEN DECIDED NOT TO CYCLE THE GEAR FURTHER BECAUSE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF THE NOSE AND THE LEFT MAIN STICKING UP OR PART WAY UP MAKING THE SITUATION WORSE. AT THIS POINT I REQUESTED A FLY-BY AT NORTH PERRY ARPT. ADVISING THEM OF THE SITUATION, I ASKED THEM TO CHK IF THE RIGHT MAIN WAS UP, PART WAY UP OR DOWN. THE TWR INFORMED ME THAT THE RIGHT MAIN APPEARED TO BE IN THE NORMAL POS, ALL 3 GEARS WERE DOWN. I THEN REQUESTED A LEFT DEP BACK TO THE W TO GO THROUGH THE MANUAL EXTENTION PROCS. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO MANUALLY EXTEND THE GEAR, THE RESULTS WERE THE SAME--NO LIGHT SHOWING THE RIGHT MAIN DOWN AND LOCKED. I THEN CONTACTED NORTH PERRY TWR AGAIN REQUESTING CLRNC TO LAND ASKING THEM TO CHK AND SEE IF ALL 3 GEAR WERE DOWN AFTER MANUAL EXTENTION PROCS. THEY ADVISED THAT THE GEAR APPEARED TO BE DOWN. THE LNDG WAS MADE WITH THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR COLLAPSING ON ROLL-OUT. MINIMAL DAMAGE WAS DONE TO A 1974 SMT. PLT WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT WITH NO INJURY SUSTAINED.
