Narrative

WE WERE ON DEPARTURE FROM SAN JOSE, CA ARPT USING THE SJC 4 DEPARTURE SID. THE WX WAS LAYERED CLOUDS (IN AND OUT). WE WERE ON A HDG OF 100 DEG CLIMBING THROUGH ABOUT 10000'. DEPARTURE GAVE US A FREQ FOR OAKLAND CENTER BUT BEFORE HE TURNED US OVER TO OAKLAND HE GAVE US TFC AT 1 TO 2 O'CLOCK AT 10500. HE THEN SAID TURN RIGHT TO 120 DEG. WE TURNED TO 120 DEG. OUR DECK ANGLE WAS HIGH (MLG) AND AIRSPEED WAS 250 KTS. WE ROLLED OUT ON 120 DEG AND I SAW THE ACFT AT ABOUT 2 O'CLOCK LOW. HE WAS AN SMT TAN IN COLOR WITH A DARK STRIPE DOWN THE SIDE. AT THE TIME WE WERE CLIMBING THROUGH 10700 OR 10800'. DEPARTURE SAID WE WERE PAST THE TFC AND FOR US TO CONTACT OAKLAND CTR. I ROGERED THE XMISSION AND REPORTED THAT WE WERE ABOVE THE TFC AND CALLED OAKLAND.
