ANALYSIS DESCRIPTION
A/C 1/A321 LANDED ON RUNWAY 35C AND EXITED AT TAXIWAY MIKE 2 AND WAS TOLD TO HOLD SHORT OF RUNWAY 35L AT TAXIWAY ECHO KILO. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT CLEARANCE, LOCAL CONTROL (LC) WENT TO THE LAND LINE TO COORDINATE WITH THE WEST TOWER AND THE PILOT READ BACK CROSS RUNWAY 35L AT TAXIWAY ECHO KILO. LC MISSED THE READ BACK. APPROXIMATELY NINE SECONDS LATER, LC CLEARED A/C 2/CRJ9 FOR TAKEOFF ON RUNWAY 35L. AS A321 ENTERED THE RUNWAY, LC ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE AIRCREW BUT THEY HAD ALREADY SWITCHED FREQUENCIES. THE GROUND RADAR INDICATED THAT CRJ9 DID VEER TO THE RIGHT OF CENTERLINE TO AVOID A321. THE ATM ADVISED AFTER PHONE CALL WITH THE PILOT OF THE CRJ9, THE PILOT STATED THEY SAW THE A321 BUT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ABORT TAKEOFF AND STOP BY TAXIWAY EK, SO THEY APPLIED FULL THROTTLE TO ENSURE THEY OVERFLEW A321. THE CLOSEST PROXIMITY BETWEEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS 77 FEET LATERAL AND 155 FEET VERTICAL.
